Hemphouse / Construction
Private House / co-author
On a hilltop, above a stone base, rises a wooden structure filled with hempcrete. Hemp hurds are mixed with water and lime, layered by hand to form a protective and insulating wall. This method of construction combines advantages of monolithic construction, such as load-bearing capacity and vapor diffusion, with sustainable raw materials that are available practically everywhere. The fine lines of the stratification of the hemp walls blur the boundaries between the vast landscape and the interior.
